Raising Digital Heroes: A Parent’s Path to Responsible Tech Use.

NCC and Nigerian Defense Academy Collaborate to Enhance National Security.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) emphasized the need for Information Communication Technology (ICT) in modern warfare during a visit by the cadets of the Department of Computer Science at the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA). The Executive Vice-Chairman of the NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, explained that modern warfare techniques no longer rely on physical combat and that battles are won through command and control centers, with the help of electronic equipment.

The NCC is investing in modern communication warfare to maintain and sustain peace and combat external aggression, Danbatta said. He added that the country's electronic combat readiness must be of a high standard to win the fight against security, external aggression, and the maintenance and sustenance of peace.

Danbatta encouraged the military students to develop software that would aid military operations and support the important mandate given to them to train minds. He also emphasized the importance of engaging with different government institutions to agree on a direction that would move the NCC to greater heights.

This would involve listening to stakeholders, explaining what the NCC is doing, and obtaining feedback that will enhance the journey toward improving the quality of service provided by mobile network operators.

Dr. Abraham Evwiekpaefe, the Head of the Department of Computer Science at the NDA, said that the cadets were there to get first-hand knowledge of the infrastructure to balance theory and different products of operation, as part of the requirements for students on industry training. He appreciated the NCC's contribution to the NDA in terms of capacity building and the provision of a one-year internet network for the institution and called for more collaboration between the agencies.

In conclusion, the NCC's emphasis on the use of ICT in modern warfare underscores the importance of technology in maintaining peace and combating external aggression. The encouragement of software development by military students is a step in the right direction, as it ensures that the military keeps up with technological advancements in the digital age. Furthermore, collaborations between government agencies can enhance the quality of service provided by mobile network operators and attract the right amount of investment into the sector for the provision of more efficient services.
